More About Your Therapist, Mitch
My life and extensive professional experiences have taught me that people are shaped by much more than symptoms alone. The challenges we face are often influenced by our relationships, culture, faith, personal values, responsibilities, life experiences, and the communities we belong to. These parts of our lives don't exist separately from our mental health—they are often deeply connected to it.
As a parent, a therapist, and someone who has navigated different cultures and life transitions, I've come to appreciate that growth rarely comes from quick answers or simple solutions. More often, it involves making sense of competing expectations, understanding ourselves more clearly, and reconnecting with what matters most.
These experiences continue to shape the way I approach therapy today—helping clients move beyond simply managing symptoms toward creating a life that feels more meaningful, authentic, and aligned with their values and goals.
I welcome clients from diverse spiritual, religious, and non-religious backgrounds and recognize that faith, personal values, culture, and life experiences often play an important role in how people make sense of challenges, healing, growth, and meaning.
Whether faith is central to your life, something you're questioning, or not something you identify with at all, therapy can provide a respectful space to explore what matters most to you.
How I Work
I believe therapy works best when it balances understanding with action.
Some sessions may focus on making sense of patterns, experiences, relationships, and emotions that have shaped your life. Other sessions may focus on building practical skills, navigating difficult decisions, strengthening relationships, or creating meaningful change in the present.
My role isn't to tell you how to live your life. It's to help you better understand yourself, clarify what matters most to you, and move toward goals that feel aligned with your values, relationships, and sense of purpose.
To support this process, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and strengths-based approaches, while tailoring therapy to your unique needs and circumstances.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Credentials & Experience
Over the course of my career, I've supported school-aged children, adolescents, college and university students, adults, seniors, parents, and families navigating a wide range of mental health, emotional, and life challenges. My experience spans community mental health, youth and family services, school-based support, addictions and rehabilitation programs, outpatient mental health services, group therapy, and individual psychotherapy.
Working with people across different stages of life and circumstances has reinforced my belief that meaningful change happens when we understand the unique experiences, relationships, values, and strengths that shape who we are.
